I also indulge in this guilty pleasure. Although it's very male-centric, I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. I don't think of them as romance novels, but I do think they probably fall into the paranormal romance category. Lot's of action and always some sort of challenge or mystery to overcome.
