I appreciate you sharing this with us. As others have said, this is far too common. My situation was different but similar. It's often difficult to see how another's pain and perspectives cause them to behave in ways that are not in the children's best interest. I understand the guilt and regret you felt when you finally learned the truth. Let go of the guilt and be proud of what a wonderful, loving mom you are.
