This is informative and leaves me wanting to know more. Great introduction into the complex world of romances. I've dabbled in reading a few different type - currently trying out some paranormal romances - and as you said, both good and bad authors abound.
I wonder if, like in music, there are author's considered "cross-over" artists. For instance, could a paranormal romance ever be considered first a paranormal adventure? Could a paranormal adventure be considered a romance if it doesn't follow a particular template? I imagine a publisher wouldn't intend for this to happen, but do you think it ever does?
