Two things really struck me about this. It's sad that the mom does not think she did anything wrong or even see how her lack of belief might impact her son. (Though this speaks volumes about the state of morality in our country and how far apart the divisions are.) Next, sad that she took the choice and opportunity to get in on his own merits away from him.
